About Altura Studio

Altura Studio

People say to me all the time: “You're so lucky. You get to go to weddings all the time." They're right. We are lucky. We get to be among people having a great time, looking and feeling their best and participating in what is often the most important day in someone's life.

Here’s the other thing we are lucky to see: the terrific style and creativity that our clients bring to their celebrations. If there is one thing we’ve learned while photographing weddings, it is that a wedding doesn’t have to be expensive to be lovely. We dedicate our blog to sharing the terrific ideas that we’ve seen before and will see this coming season, with a focus on ideas that are simple, elegant and stylish.

Every image in this blog is shot by us at events we've photographed. So, we say "thank you" to our clients who have shared their warmth and happiness with us.

UPDATED: Allison & Josh, August 9th, 2008

I just rang Allison and Josh and they answered their cell from a ferry boat in Sausalito! After their perfect, perfect, perfect wedding at the Viewpoint Inn, they headed off on a driving honeymoon to the California Wine Country and San Francisco. Hey, maybe your proofs will even beat you home?

One of the nicest things about this wedding, besides all the wonderful people who were there with them, was the relaxed pace of the day. No rushing, no stress, all happy, all mellow. Allison had time with “her girls” while she dressed and Josh had time with “his guys” (which included the oh-so-awsome female groomsperson). There was plenty of time for family and group photos on the lawn, and the ceremony was just delish.

However, I think the very best part of the day came later in the evening. After dinner, as the sun was fading, the couple took a short walk towards the viewpoint. The golden sun, the fading light, the cool green grass—my favorite image of the day is from this time. I’ll post it at the bottom of this entry.

UPDATE: Here is link to Allison and Josh’s web gallery. Also, a link to a slideshow of our favorites. And a link to our idea for their album.

my favorite photo of the day

Joni Shimabukuro - Just viewed the slideshow. There are so many beautiful images - I'd have to say the ones that stood out to me were the black and white of the shiny satiny trim of the veil and the color one of the couple on the bluff around dusk - I'm a sucker for back lit images when they are done well and you guys nailed it. Oh you got me, I cried. If I did, I'm sure the B&G did too!March 2, 2009 - 8:50 am
