This wedding was so elegant, so girly, so beautiful! Lindsay and James’ French-inspired pink and white wedding found it’s way to the Style Me Pretty blog. The Heritage Ballroom at the Governor Hotel was transformed into a sweet and swanky setting for a lovely late-morning brunch.

Mallory’s dress was dreamy. Wouldn’t you just LOVE to have pockets in your wedding gown? The perfect spot for a lipstick or a lucky penny. See what the lovely ladies at Style Me Pretty had to say when this wedding ran on the LBB blog last Spring.

What a remarkable day this was! I’m left with such a vivid impression of the sweetness and the palette of Alissa’s wedding to Daniel last Saturday. Grace and happiness defined the day, none more than the bride Alissa. What a lovely smile. She was so much fun to photograph–with her family and her bridesmaids–her happiness seemed calm and right on the surface. Alissa wore her Mother’s veil and carried a delightful bouquet of sunny daffodils and delicate orchids alongside wonderful roses and gerbera daisies. Daniel had matching hats for his groomsmen, but those didn’t make an appearance until the reception. I think he might have been a teeny bit nervous beforehand, however as I reviewed the images, you can see his face transform with pure love as Alissa walks up the aisle towards him. After the wedding mass, Alissa and Daniel celebrated with their friends and family at the Fairgate Inn. Toasts, dinner and dancing brought two families together to celebrate the beginning of another.

I think pink is the friendliest, most accommodating color of all. Happy to blend in or stand out. And she plays nicely with almost every other color. Pink can be sweet or sexy. Soft or striking. And because of pink’s generous nature, she’s often seen in the company of others, (think pink & navy, pink & white, pink & well, almost anything.) But at this wedding, the delightful Ms. Pink was invited to center stage.

I sure do like her here. Bold, nuanced, collaborating nicely with her close friends, Magenta and Violet. She’s interesting enough to hold up to all the attention, but never showy or too in-your-face.

This just may be the perfect winter wedding. Nora’s wedding to Brian at The Governor Hotel on the Saturday after St. Valentine’s day was elegant, sophisticated and romantic. Although the forecast threatened storms, the day delivered only a few harmless clouds. Brian and Nora exchanged their vows by candlelight in the Renaissance Room, witnessed by family and friends, some of whom traveled long distances to the wedding.

The glow of the ceremony continued throughout the reception in the Grand Ballroom across the hall. Geranium Lake Flowers transformed the ballroom into a cocoon of loveliness with cascades of white flowers, tulips, candles, sparkling glass and golden up-lights washing the gilt walls and ceiling. It was like spending the evening inside an exquisite Faberge egg.

Today’s blog post could have been titled: Any color + white + ivory = rich and sophisticated wedding colors.

I selected these photos to illustrate how simple orchestrating a successful color scheme for your wedding can be. It can be tempting for planning brides to freak out a little bit with so many colors to choose from–and it’s not always straightforward for non-designer types to find the combos that are fresh and attractive. So, perhaps you’re a bit overwhelmed with color and how to use it at your wedding. You can always try out this formula: Pick ANY color that you like. One that makes you happy, or makes you feel love, or simply makes your heart sing when you see it. Now add two whites. You might have to experiment here. Maybe it’s the icy whites that set off your main color. Or perhaps you need to go the other direction, toward buttermilk or vanilla ice cream. I promise that when you find your color’s mates in the while family, the combination will read as rich, complex and sophisticated.

Recipe for success? Your favorite color plus two whites. Give it a whirl.
