Could Will Cohen be the nicest young man I’ve ever met? I think it’s true. John and I really enjoyed photographing Will and his family at his Bar Mitzvah last month. He’s confidant, fun, and self-possessed. Spend a little time with Will and you get a good sense of the delightful young man he’ll become.
Will’s Mom arranged the coolest, baseball-inspired celebration. Will had his own custom logo-ed baseballs and the young guests enjoyed their personally-screened ball caps. And a testimony to the dj: I saw all ages busting their moves on the dance floor.
Congratulations, Will! Here’s some of our favorite pics in a slide show.

Ohmygosh, I’m still effervescing over Leslie and Devon’s wedding last month. These two tied the knot in early November at the Waverly Country Club. Leslie was adorable in Monique Lhuillier and Devon sported the classic satin lapel and bow tie. Dreamy, perfect, formal yet friendly. Leslie and Devon are firmly at the center of a loving circle of family and friends. Everyone enjoyed the wedding celebrations surrounded by flowers and candlelight, good friends and fun.
There were far too many photos to choose for a sneak peek. If you take a look at the slide show below, you’ll discover that the photos posted here are a mere fraction of the beauty, fun and celebration of Devon and Leslie’s wedding day.
And in the meanwhile, click here to see a slideshow of our favorites from the day.
Update Dec 9, 2011: Leslie and Devon’s wedding gallery is live. See it here.
OK, you might as well go straight to the slideshow for this engagement session because you are going to want to see every single frame. I drove myself insane trying to pick my “favorites” for the slideshow. Favorites? Are you kidding me? I’m in love with every single photo from their session.
Devon and Leslie are getting married at Waverly in just a few weeks. Between her schedule, his and ours, we didn’t get to have their engagement session until October, but these two would be adorable to shoot any single day of the year. Heat, rain, snow–no problem. They have a blast together and the laughter is right next to the surface all the time with these two.
We can’t wait to shoot your wedding in just, what, 17 days? I’m glad you’ll both have a little taste of what we do and we’ll get a taste of how much we’ll enjoy photographing you on the big day.
Congrats to you both.
Here’s the slideshow you should look at right this minute. And here’s the link to all the photos from Leslie and Devon’s engagement session.
Elegant. Delightful. Charming. That’s the feeling we came away with from Tai and Jason’s wedding on the 1st of October. Over the course of the day I kind of developed a grown-up crush on these two; they were both so confidant, charming and warm. You don’t often meet people who radiate openness and emotional depth.
We didn’t get the opportunity to meet Tai and Jason until just before the wedding, so we had to use our spidey-sense to gather their emotional style on wedding day. Turns out that it wasn’t hard at all. Tai fairly glowed and Jason looked like a cat in the catbird seat. Like a man who has the world exactly how he wants it. And I can understand why: these two seem absolutely and perfectly matched. Their Catholic Mass had smiles and laughter mixed in with the solemnity, and the college-friend-filled party effervesced despite the rain.
It was our first time shooting with the lovely ladies at Bridal Bliss. It always helps a photographer feel more secure and supported when there’s a savvy and resourceful super-women to save the zipper/umbrella/timing/hairpin crises that are almost a part of every wedding. Kudus to you, Yvonne!
Here’s a sampling of our favorite pics set to Jason and Tai’s first dance song. I got a chance to really reflect on the lyrics as I assembled their slideshow. Tai, Jason: you picked a truly beautiful song to celebrate your wedding with. Here’s to you both!

Sarah and Abhi’s wedding was a festival of color, texture, traditions and love. From Abhi’s side came Indian traditions: the baraat with spirit-raising drums, garlands of marigolds, beautiful saris, lovely henna decorations on the women’s hands and feet. From Sarah’s side: American traditions. A long white gown with a delicate veil, rings to exchange, vows to share and a kiss to seal it all. Family and friends were drawn into the celebration, including the resident alpacas, adorable in their wedding day garlands.
It’s energizing for us to be amid such happiness and celebration. Sarah and Abhi are blessed to be surrounded by a happy clan of family and friends, whose love and support was truly in evidence this day. However, despite the whirl of the day, my favorite photos are of Abhi and Sarah stealing a quiet moment alone while the fading sun painted the day with gold.
Congratulations Abhi and Sarah! Here’s our favorites in a little slide show.

I didn’t notice while we were taking these portraits with Grace, Chris and their wedding party, how stunning the light was coming through the evergreens. At the time I saw the light was nice, but as I was preparing the files, I could see that it looks like an outdoor cathedral.
Grace and Chris were married in a Catholic ceremony in the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Lourdes, where Grace and her siblings attended school as children. Grace’s family carried out traditions of the lazo, which unites the couple within the wedding rosary, and also the arras wherein the gift of 13 golden coins signifies good financial stewardship for the couple.
Afterwards, Grace and Chris celebrated with their family and friends at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver. The highlight of the evening was a surprise performance by the Blazer’s Breakdancers. A dancer, disguised as a waiter, tripped on the floor scattering dishes during the couple’s first dance. Shocked faces turned into laughter as the fallen waiter was joined by a half dozen dancers for a spirited performance in the dance floor.

What a lovely afternoon! Skye and Billy married at the home of their dear friend on Bald Peak. You’d never know by looking at the oh-so-cool Billy and Skye that the day was a scorcher. But the shade was cool and the breeze was favorable and all-told the day was lovely. My favorite photo of the ceremony is the one above of Skye and Billy lighting their unity candle. Which was a little funny, by the way, since the day was so windy. They did manage to light the flame after a few giggling tries.
In a twist, Skye’s first look at her wedding ring was when Billy gave it to her at the altar. (And since I saw it earlier while we were photographing it, I had a feeling that she’d be thrilled.) I loved the look on her face as she got her first peek as Billy placed it on her hand.
Congratulations, Skye and Billy. Here is your wedding gallery with all the photos from your wedding.

At some point in your life you know exactly what you want. What kind of love. What kind of husband. What kind of life you want for yourself and your loved ones. I admire both Larry and Jenifer for knowing just what they want and celebrate them for finding it. Larry is the man who is made for Jenifer and similarly, Jenifer belongs nowhere but with Larry.
During the toasts, I learned just how ideal these two are together. When friends were making plans to introduce the two, they understood that both Larry and Jenifer had each been holding out for the exact fit.
The wedding was a sweet, heartfelt affair. At the top of the hill, in the middle of Oregon’s verdant hills, their pastor officiated as they tied their futures together.
Congrats you two. We were honored to share your lovely day. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness.

James and Lindsay’s wedding is the kind that every girl dreams of. Everything about it was simply picture perfect. Lindsay considered every detail from the mood to the colors to the details and it was a spectacular. I think the Heritage Ballroom at the Governor Hotel is simply the most beautiful venue in town and Lindsay’s vision for an elegant morning brunch fit there perfectly. Creamy fluted pillars, delicate lighting, soaring ceilings were a perfect setting for the prettiest details. But before the gorgeous festivities was a sweet and delightful morning wedding at the Old Church.
Reviving a lovely tradition, Lindsay and James chose a morning wedding. Besides being bright and fresh, a morning wedding means that guests can celebrate with a festive brunch. Lindsay’s details included a lavish patisserie bar, personalized champagne cocktails and creamy coffee drinks to accompany the morning meal.
My favorite photos of the day are of James and Lindsay’s first dance in the ballroom. Lindsay’s was so beautiful in her gorgeous dress as she swirled on the dance floor in James arms.
Congratulations, Lindsay and James. Here’s a little taste of the day in the form of a slideshow

I’ve been smiling all morning as I’ve been working on Kate and Per’s images from their lovely wedding last Saturday. There were so many things to smile about: the weather was perfect, Kate and Per are crazy about one another, everyone was so friendly and warm, and Garden Vineyards is nearly the prettiest place on the planet.
Both Kate and Per are pretty darned impressive. Warm, stylish, talented and accomplished. Plus their chemistry is electric. One one hand, they both seem a little quiet or restrained, but when you put them together–any trace of cool drops in a flash. Just watching them look at one another renews my belief in encompassing, no-holds-barred, life-altering love. Some things are just perfect: Kate and Per together is one of those things.
When we met to plan the photos, Kate told me her color inspiration was summer pastels. The flowers by Geranium Lake were loose and delicate in shades of cream, butter, apricot, and blush. The look was soft and a bit vintage-ey. Kate’s dress was oh-so-dreamy. A draped lace overlay dipped from the high collarbone in the front to a deep v in the back. Again, a modern take on a vintage inspiration. And did I mention the shoes? Per’s bespoke tie in a grey and cream plaid harmonized with his cream cabbage-rose boutonniere. The whole thing was stylish, refined and distinctive.
Here’s a peek at some of our favorites from the day.
Update Aug 21, 2011. Kate and Per’s gallery is live. You can see all the photos of their wedding day here.
